ASSESSMENTS   Each CD or Blackline Masters notebook contains Pre- and Post-tests for each term or quarter (8 week period) of Word Bank, The Power of Words, curriculum. Pre- and Post-tests consist of a total of 50 multiple choice questions. They are broken down as follows:       40 questions that assess vocabulary word meanings   4 questions that test reading comprehension   6 questions that identify correct use of grammar and punctuation       The questions on both tests are identical; only the order of both the questions and the answers beneath the questions are changed.       HINTS ABOUT TESTING:   If administering tests with paper, we have found it helpful to copy the four page test onto 11" x 17" paper and fold it in half. This saves space and is more simple to store.   It is also helpful to use Scantron score sheets if dealing with a large number of students. We purchase the kind with 100 questions and use the front side for the 50 Pretest answers and the back side for the 50 Post-test answers.   Students do much better on tests when their score is somehow averaged into their grade for that class.           Click sample Pre-test to view a sample assessment compiled from all four Series of Word Bank, The Power of Words.
